Bunny
Here's a bunny I got half way through at lunch today. After looking at Yuko Murata's work below, I kind of like it kept simple. Have a nice weekend. xxxx

half hearted love heart
Getting ready for Valentines Day
Everyone's getting ready for Valentines Day, so I guess I should too. Here's an image I did ages ago, and I'm in the middle of doing a similar one in the shape of a love heart. As all the lines are drawn individually it will take a while to finish - bit I'm halfway through. It's relaxing to make - like doing needle work or sewing. I'll post it when it's finished. xxxx

Owl Drawing
I just worked all weekend. Working as a newspaper graphic-artist can be a bit like working as a fireman. Sometimes you have to sit around waiting for the action to happen. Yesterday was really busy and I didn't have time to look sideways. Today, however, things were completely dead. I only had to do one, tiny job, so spent half the day doing this owl (above) in Illustrator, and the other half of the day looking around on Etsy. I found these really cute kids and babies recycled t-shirts. xxxx

Zebra drawing
I did a drawing of a zebra at work today and then added some squiggles around it when I got home. Zebra's are definitely not just black and white. I was looking closely at the photo and there's beautiful browns and greys on a zebra's coat too. I categorised it under television doodling, even though I did it at work cause it reminds me of the type of drawing I'd do in front of the television. xxxx

Another squiggle sky drawing
Here's another drawing I was doing last night. Completely different to the one below - but similar to the squiggle drawing I did about two weeks ago. Not sure if I like this one as much - but as I said, I'm in experimentation mode at the moment. xxxx

Op Shopping, a Cacharel bag & Carrie Bradshaw
The other day I got another cute item at a garage sale - a Cacharel bag and wallet for the cheap price of $30 (that's 17.83 EUR or 23.95 USD). They're hot pink, as you can see above, which is not normally my thing, but I've decided to embrace it in a Carrie Bradshaw kind of way. I drew this terrible picci of her to wrap my head around the concept. Speaking of which, I can't wait for the Sex and the City movie. xxxx

Folk art animal illustration competition
I just did this drawing for a competition run by Monster Children magazine and judged by Beci Orpin, of whom I'm a huge fan. Anyway, the breif was: 'send your best folk art animal illustration to the magazine'. So I pulled out a recent drawing I did of a Swedish Dala horse, and made a Dala mountain goat as well. The background is an artwork I did for a show last year.

More stuff to get made in Thailand
Here's a couple of patterns I made earlier that I want to get made up into yardage in Thailand as well. I'd like to do mix and match pants and t-shirt sets for kids. I'm not sure if the the design is appropriate for screen printing. I'm hoping to find a digital fabric printer there. Anyway - once again I thought it would be good to post them now before they're made, and re-post them later when they're actually fabric. It may be a while though. I'm imagining there'll be lots of samples sent back and fourth before we get it right. Also if it has to be screen printed I may have to reverse the red and yellow colours. Anyway, we'll see............xxxx

Milla Jovovich
Ever since I saw The Fifth Element I've thought Milla Jovovich was really cool, so when a friend sent me a link to Jovovich-Hawk, the fashion label she has with partner Carmen Hawk, I got really excited and decided to have a mini Milla festival and got Resident Evil out on DVD. Apart from the martial arts sequences I hated the movie, so I drew her instead, collaged and surfed the net. Below are some images of the beautiful clothes I found on their website.

More Television Doodles
Thanks again to the lack of great television I did this messy, digital version of marbling. Firstly I did a bunch of lines in Illustrator, then brought them over to Photoshop where I changed the colour and stretched them with the Liquify tool. There's some beautiful paper marbling at marbledpaper.blogspot.com, and info about marbling at marbling.org.

Happy Mothers Day
Tomorrow is my first Mother's Day, which is quite a milestone. For the sake of memories I decided to post the invite I did for my baby shower (next post), when I was full of anticipation and had no idea of how life with a new baby would be. I must admit I was terrified. I thought I'd be struggling with sleep deprivation and post-natal depression.
Now it's almost six months later and I couldn't have hoped for a better summer. I managed to skip the baby blues which I've really gotta thank Johnny for. He takes Lukas for 3 hours each morning so I get to sleep in - and was lucky enough to have a happy, cheerful, easy baby.
Thanks Lukas!!
I've made some bright, 3D flowers, and you can tell from the colours and squiggles that this whole motherhood thing has been really fun so far. I couldn't decide which picci to use so I posted both.
Happy Mother's Day to my mum and all the other great mum's out there.
