Our friend Michael took this adorable photo of Lukas eating an icecream. I love it so much I thought I'd share it! xxxx

Knitta

Here's another cool knitting related thing I found in my knitwear research. It's a group called Knitta, who display their half finished knitting projects in public spaces. Participants have joined in LA, New York, Paris, Montreal and El Salvador. You can get involved with the Knitta group via their website, where I got thier images. I'm thinking of joining myself! xxxx

Tika designs go to Peru

Also today is very exciting because all the work I've been doing lately is packed neatly in a folder and currently flying through the air with Hayley to Peru, where the stuff will be made. Here's a photo of the village where the womens shelters are. Can't wait to see the samples. xxxx

Fun Knitwear

While I've been doing the design work for Tika, I've been researching knitwear. In my travels I came across the cool Japanese knitwear designer Mafuyu. The piccies are from the website.

Recent freelance stuff

Lately I've been working for Hayley Allen, who used to run Skipping Girl, (cute bags above). Now she's starting a new business called Tika. It's being backed by miners in Peru, who have a strategy of putting money back into the community promoting fair trade practise. The merchandise will be made by Peruvian women using traditional skills of knitting and crochet. So I've been designing fun stuff like toys, cot blankets, socks, scarves, dolls etc. As stuff gets launched elsewhere I can post it here. So here's the splash page I did, and I guess I can post the sausage dogs as Hayley's used them as her Facebook profile. They're 3D models that will eventually be made into toys. More to come later. xxxx

One year old today

This blog is one year old today. What a fun year it's been! Thanks to all the other great bloggers I've met along the way. Oh and I should confess I stole the cupcake pic from Google Images - but can't remember where. I bought a very similar one to photograph but couldn't find my camera. xxxx

Felt Bunny

I'm in the middle of making this for a friend of mine. It's a felt version of this picture. I'll pop another picture up when I've finished. xxxx

Cool stuff over at Balladora

I've just been looking at balladora's typography and graphics blog and found some nice stuff (slack blogging I know but good to plug another blog). The Chloe Sevigny posters were marked 'untitled', so I don't know who did them. The black and white 'love' work was done by Trevor Jackson, and the numbers on the right were done by Six Letter Word Design. I got all the images via Balladora. Click to see more detail. xxxx

New bag

My bags seem to have a life span of about three months because I'm always carrying around heavy books and my laptop. So today I got this new, seemingly, very sturdy canvas bag made by Chip Chop, an Australian brand. I got the image off their website. xxxx

Eleanor & James Avery

I recently went up to Brisbane to see a friends opening at Ryan Renshaw gallery. I've posted on her recently, so I won't repeat myself but will post a couple of images from Eleanor and James Avery, artists who also show at the gallery. These are from a 2006 show and I got the images from art day out.org. xxxx

Chalet the font

Strange type tuesday today. It's not a showcase of a font designer, but rather a font. I bought it today after a friend put me onto it. It's called Chalet, and I got it from houseind. They've got lots of great fonts, so they're a good resource to bookmark. xxxx

Paintings from 1968

Because I posted some fashion images from 1968 yesterday, I decided to follow up today with some paintings from 1968. They're from the 'The Field', the first, major Australian survey show of hard-edge abstraction, held at the NGV in Melbourne. Quite a few of my friends are strongly influenced by the era, and it's of special interest for me as my uncle, Paul Partos, was in the show. His is the top work, and you can see more of his paintings here. The middle, yellow work was done by Janet Dawson and the painting below it was done by James Doolin. All the images were scanned from the catlogue. xxxx
