Surprise package!
Christmas came early for me yesterday when I walked in the door. I had done some business stationery for my cousin and her husband, and didn't want to charge them cause they're the type of people who sneakily pay the bill in restaurants before you've finished your meal. Anyway, this package arrived in the post full of amazing design stuff. In it was a wall decal of the Eames cross-patch design, a book on Julie Verhoeven, who I'd never heard of but now love - and some amazing toys that can be shared by Lukas and I. Above is a scan from the Julie Verhoeven book and below are some piccies of contents of this fantastic package. Thanks Viva! xxxx

More spider's webs
The post below reminded me of this graphic I made a while back. It's on my list of images to potentially get made into cards. Anyway - it's funny looking back at past work. At the time I was convinced that the grey background (above) worked the best - but now I look at it again I think I like the colours better. I'll have to poll my friends before I go to print. You'll see more detail if you click the images to enlarge xxxxx
Published Art, Sydney
About a month ago I got a gift voucher from my favourite bookshop in Sydney - Published Art. It's worth having a look at their site to see all the great publications they stock. Anyway, I got this amazing book called Graphic Design in Japan 2006. It's beautifully presented, with rounded corners and even a library card in the back! Here's a couple of scanned images from it. I'd pop a link to the book in, but unfortunately it's out
of print.
Wonderland Magazine and cool watches!
Lately I've been reading the new publication Wonderland Magazine, which has really cool articles and great images too. I found these watches there. The left one is a D&G watch, and all the others are from Tokyo Flash. Johnny's a watch enthusiast, so I'm always on the lookout for fun timepieces. xxxx

Sanna Annukka
I just did some surfing of other blogs this morning and found (over at Emma's Design blog) that the Finnish / English illustrator Sanna Annukka has recently opened an online shop. It's worth having a look at her website, and if you want to read more, there's an interview about
her here.

Keiichi Tanaami
Keiichi Tanaami began his career as part of the under ground scene of Japan in the 1960’s. He experimented with painting, illustration and short films, however after graduating from Musashino Art University he became best known for his large, graphic poster work. His use of 60's psychedelia mixed with Asian imagery such as pine trees, goldfish, and clouds has created a style that's rendered him a cultural icon in Japan.
He is still working today as a professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design in the information design department. He’s also exhibiting internationally alongside artists such as Andy Warhol and Tony Ousler - and he continues to cross mediums, working between fashion, design and contemporary art.
The above image is from an interview with him that can be found at the online Shift Magazine; the middle images were scanned from one of my favourite publications Idea Magazine; and the below image is scanned from a catalogue of his work called Amigo's, (I can't list the correct publishing details because it's all in Japanese!) but it can be purchased from the cool shop Via Alley in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

Wonderland prints
I've been doing some work for the last couple of weeks for the most beautiful children's clothing shop called Wonderland, which is down the road in Bondi. They stock clothes from Japan, Sweden and New York, and they have an in house label as well. I've been making unicorn and rose graphics (above, left) that will be printed onto fabric. (Click to enlarge). I can't wait to see how the prints turn out, and then I can't wait to start making prints for my own kiddy range! The images on the right hand side, above, are from the label Boo Foo Woo which is stocked at Wonderland - the only place you can get it in Sydney. The shop can be found at Shop 1/ 102 Glenayr Ave Bondi Beach, ph: (02) 9300 6322. I'll post some images of the shop later. The clothing images on the right are from the boo.circus-circus website.

Pumpkin to the rescue
I'm feeling pretty happy with pumpkin's right now. After a month and a half of refusing food Lukas chose the day I went back to work to start wolfing it down. I could only do a four hour shift because I had to get home to breast feed him, but now I guess I can work for longer if we've found something else to fill his stomach. For friends and relatives who would find this interesting, click here to see the enthusiastic response to his first pumpkin meal. There's some great sound effects too. Warning: you might find the mess he's making really disgusting! The pumpkin head images above have been shamelessly plagarised from Google images.
